The Bishop of Accra, Rt. Rev. Titus Awotwe Pratt has been elected as the new Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana.

He is to take over from Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, who will end his tenure of office on October 1, 2015.

The new Presiding Bishop-elect polled 198 votes as against 131 by his closest challenger, Very Rev. Paul Boafo, chaplain at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The elections for the new leader of the Methodist Church of Ghana was held on Saturday evening at the Wesley College of Education as part of activities of the church's conference currently underway in Kumasi.
