Calamity has befallen Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the entire football fraternity in Ghana after the team bus of the Porcupine Warriors had an accident in Nkawkaw en route to Kumasi.

The Porcupine Warriors had been dealt a huge blow after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Inter Allies in the league and it turned worse after the bus heading to Kumasi from Accra encountered the unfortunate incident.

The Assistant Equipment Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kofi  Asare (circled red in picture above), has been confirmed dead

The club posted on their official twitter handle:  ‘’Players and officials on our team bus returning to Kumasi after our game with Inter Allies in Accra have been involved in an accident.

The accident occurred around 9:45pm at Nkawkaw, when our bus ran into a stationary vehicle.

Personnel on the bus are generally fine. Some are however receiving treatment at the Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw.

Management requests that fans stay calm. A full statement on the incident will be issued in due course.’’

Ghana football has been thrown into a state of shock and mourning.
